Where is Apache Nugget Travel Center & Casino located?
Apache Nugget is conveniently located at the junction of US Highway 550 and Highway 537, approximately 22 miles west of Cuba, New Mexico (near mile marker 85). We’re situated in the scenic high desert of northern New Mexico on Jicarilla Apache Nation land.
From Albuquerque: Take I-25 North to Bernalillo, then take US-550 North through Cuba. Continue west on US-550 for approximately 15 miles. Travel time is about 1.5 hours.
From Santa Fe: Take US-84/285 North to Española, then take NM-96 West to Cuba, and continue on US-550 West for approximately 15 miles. Travel time is about 2 hours.
From Durango, CO: Take US-550 South for approximately 80 miles.
What are Apache Nugget’s hours of operation?
Gaming Floor:
- Sunday through Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- Thursday through Saturday: 9:00 AM – 12:00 AM (Midnight)
Travel Center: Open daily with extended hours for fuel services.

Is Apache Nugget Casino open? I heard it closed during COVID.
Yes, we’re open! Apache Nugget temporarily closed in March 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic but successfully reopened on February 14, 2025. We’ve returned better than ever with brand-new slot machines, electronic table games, updated facilities, and exciting new amenities, including our upcoming sportsbook.

Apache Nugget Travel Center & Casino is proudly owned and operated by the Apache Nugget Corporation, which oversees all gaming activities for the Jicarilla Apache Nation. What is the minimum age to gamble at Apache Nugget Casino?
You must be 21 years of age or older to enter the gaming floor and participate in any gaming activities, including slot machines, electronic table games, and sports betting. This is in accordance with Jicarilla Apache Gaming Regulatory and New Mexico Gaming regulations. Valid photo identification is required.

Apache Nugget is a full-service travel center offering:

Can I park my RV or truck overnight?
Yes! We welcome RV and truck parking. We have spacious parking areas suitable for:
- RVs and motorhomes
- Big rigs and commercial trucks
- Standard passenger vehicles
Please note that parking is shared between RVs and commercial trucks, and spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Our travel center operates with truckers in mind, so some noise from trucks coming and going throughout the night should be expected.
Do you have showers available?
Yes, we offer shower facilities for $5 per use. This is a popular amenity for truckers and road travelers needing to freshen up during long journeys.
Are there restaurants or food options?
We’re excited to announce that new dining options are coming soon! We’ll be adding:
- A full-service restaurant
- Quick-service food options
In the meantime, our convenience store offers snacks, beverages, and grab-and-go items. We’re located along a major highway corridor with additional dining options in the nearby town of Cuba, approximately 15 miles east.
Will you have EV charging stations?
Yes! EV charging stations are currently being designed and final installation will be available soon, making Apache Nugget northern New Mexico’s newest EV charging destination. Check our website or call for updates on availability.
Planning Your Visit
Is there an admission fee to enter the casino?
No, there is no admission fee to enter Apache Nugget Travel Center & Casino. You’re welcome to visit our facility, enjoy our amenities, grab fuel, or simply take a break from your travels. Gaming activities require you to be 21+ with valid ID.
Can I bring children into the casino?
Minors (anyone under 21) are not permitted on the gaming floor. However, families are welcome to use our travel center amenities, convenience store, and fuel services. Once our restaurant opens, families will be able to dine together in designated non-gaming areas.

Is there cell phone service at your location?
Cell phone service can be limited in this rural area of northern New Mexico. Verizon typically provides 1-2 bars of service. We recommend downloading any directions or information you need before arriving. WiFi may be available in certain areas of our facility.

Do you serve alcohol?
Currently, no. In accordance with New Mexico gaming regulations, alcoholic beverages may only be consumed in designated bar or restaurant areas, not on the gaming floor. Once our restaurant and bar facilities open, we’ll provide more details about our beverage offerings.
